Boostech has been remapping the Isuzu 1.9 Ddi for years. It remains one of the most rewarding engines to calibrate, responding exceptionally well when boost, fuelling, torque control and throttle behaviour are developed as one coordinated package. The 2026 model continues that potential—but reaching it required new work.

The engine is familiar. The management is not.

The 2026 D-Max still carries the RZ4E 1.9-litre turbo-diesel name, but Isuzu has introduced its latest-generation engine-management system alongside significant hardware changes. Much like the newest Toyota platforms, this is not a case of loading an old calibration into a new vehicle. The ECU identification, software structure and access method have all moved forward.

Boostech is one of the first tuning companies able to work with this new generation. At the time access was achieved, complete supporting information was still being documented by parts of the tool-development industry. That is how far ahead the Boostech network has been working.

What Isuzu changed for 2026

The updated 1.9 Ddi uses an electronically controlled turbo actuator in place of the previous vacuum actuator. This allows faster and more precise boost control. Isuzu also introduced a new high-pressure fuel pump and common-rail injection system, a redesigned combustion chamber, revised ECM calibration and faster-heating ceramic glow plugs.

Peak factory output remains 110 kW and 350 Nm, but the full 350 Nm is now available from 1,600 to 2,600 rpm. Isuzu says the revised engine produces 130 Nm more torque at 1,600 rpm than the outgoing version, giving the new D-Max noticeably stronger response before any remap is applied.

Why years of 1.9 Ddi experience matter

New ECU access does not replace calibration experience. It only opens the door. Boostech already understands how the RZ4E responds under load, where useful torque should be delivered, how the automatic gearbox reacts and why smooth control is more important than one impressive peak number.

Our established 1.9 Ddi package lifts output from 110 kW and 350 Nm to approximately 150 kW and 450 Nm. More importantly, it transforms throttle response, low-speed pull, overtaking performance and everyday drivability while keeping a progressive, factory-like delivery.
